OpenAI launches a major partnership. The AI leader joins forces with Broadcom. They target 10 gigawatts of Custom AI Chips accelerators. Deployment kicks off in late 2026.

This move cuts reliance on Nvidia and AMD. OpenAI designs the chips. Broadcom builds and rolls them out. The deal spans multiple years. It ends by 2029.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hails the step. “We build infrastructure to unlock AI’s power,” Altman states. The chips embed lessons from frontier models.

They boost capability and intelligence. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan calls it pivotal. “We chase artificial general intelligence,” Tan says. The racks use Ethernet from Broadcom.
