India’s informal workforce is set to receive a major digital boost. Microsoft has partnered with the Ministry of Labour and Employment to bring AI job tools to government platforms used by more than 310 million informal workers.
The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
The move aims to make job searches easier, help workers build better resumes, and improve access to social protection schemes.
It also connects Indian workers with thousands of potential employers through Microsoft’s global network.
AI Jobs India: AI-Assisted Job Search and Skilling Support
Under this partnership, Microsoft is integrating new AI features into the e-Shram database and the National Career Service (NCS) portal.
These tools will make it easier for workers to find jobs, understand their skills, and learn new ones.

- Easy, automated resume builder
- Skills gap analysis
- Career roadmaps for workers
- AI-based job matching
- Real-time translation in 22 Indian languages (via Bhashini)
- Microsoft Azure handling high-speed processing (up to 172,000 transactions/sec)
Microsoft will also bring 15,000+ employers from its global ecosystem to the NCS platform, creating more job opportunities—both in India and abroad.
The company is expanding its DigiSaksham skilling programme. It now aims to train 20 million Indians by 2030, up from the previous goal of 10 million.

Infrastructure Boost and Expansion of Social Protection
This announcement comes as Microsoft commits $17.5 billion to India’s cloud and AI infrastructure over the next four years.
A major part of this includes a new flagship data center in Hyderabad, expected to go live in mid-2026.
Minister Mandaviya said the step supports India’s mission to extend social protection to 1 billion citizens by March 2026.
Coverage has already grown from 19% in 2015 to 64.3% in 2025, touching 940 million people.
Satya Nadella praised India’s rapid digital progress and said Microsoft is ready to support the creation of Employment Digital Public Infrastructure that can be used globally.
