Apart from that, MS word also provides various fonts.

As we all know, to make any document attractive, it is essential to use appropriate fonts.

However, Microsoft word comes with dozens of font choices already, but it also allows adding new fonts and use custom fonts.

How to Add Font in Microsoft Word

In today’s article, we will be covering the step-by-step tutorial on how to install fonts on Windows 7.

First, I will tell you the method to download the fonts to the system and then, the procedure for installing them.

So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get started with the tutorial.

Downloading the Fonts

To get the fonts in MS word, first, you will have to download them to the machine.

If you already have the downloaded fonts, then you will have to install them. For that, read the second part of the guide.

And if you don’t know how to download the font, then the procedure is given below.

Step 1: First of all, to download the fonts, go to the website which provides free downloading. However, there are various websites available that provide free downloading, you can find them on google.

If you don’t know any such website click here.

This website contains various fonts and also allows downloading them for free.

When you visit the website, you will see a home page, as I have mentioned below.

Step 2: As you can see in the above image, some fonts are appearing on the home page of the website. If you want more fonts, or know the name of the font, then you can find them by clicking on the alphabets showing at the top of the screen.

Step 3: After finding the appropriate font, simply click on the download button. You will find the downloading button just beside the font. Check out the image given below.

That’s all, as the sooner you click on the font, the downloading will start abruptly.

All you have to do is find the appropriate website and download the fonts of your choice.

Installing the Fonts

Most often, the downloaded fonts are in. ZIP file format. So to install them, first you will need to extract the files from the.Zip format.

The procedure is given below. The procedure for installing the font may vary from the Os to OS.

Below I will tell you the methods to install the fonts in mainly two operating systems. One is Windows XP and the other one is Windows 7.

For Windows XP

Step 1: To extract the font, first right-click on it and click on Extract. Check out the image below if you didn’t get me. You can also double click for the same.

Step 2: After extracting the file, you will see a folder containing the same name as the font. Double-click on it to open it. Or right-click and select open.

Step 3: Now copy the font file and Put the font files into C:\Windows\Fonts. You can do the same by going to the control panel. 

Click on Start> control panel> Fonts. 

Simply paste the file to the folder and you are done.

Now when you will open the MS word, in the list of Fonts, you will be able to see the recently installed font.

For Windows 7

Step 1: First of all, extract the downloaded font. To do so, right-click on the downloaded file and click on the extract all option.

Step 2: As sooner you extract the file, you will be asked where you’d like to save the file once it’s extracted. You will see a screen like below.

I would suggest you keep the default location as Desktop, and click “Extract All...”

But make sure to create a folder, otherwise, the contents of the WinRAR file will be spread over in the location.

Or simply let the location be as it is.

Step 3: After extracting the file, the unzipped file would appear near to the original file. Open the folder and double-click on the font file.

Step 4: By double-clicking on the font file, a window of the font will be displayed similar to the following image. All you will have to do is click on the Install button.

By clicking on the install button on the top of the window, the font will be easily installed onto the system.

And you can use that on any software or program you want.

As you wanted to use the font in Ms word, do use there.

To do so simply go to the font option from the top of the screen and select the font. And you are done.
