How To Change The Background Color In PowerPoint Slides 2023?

In order to learn how to change the background color in PowerPoint slides, it is a must, to have a little basic knowledge of MS PowerPoint.

However, in one of our previous articles I have given a thorough description of the PowerPoint, but in case if you have missed out, then here is a quick intro for the same.

Microsoft PowerPoint is a slide show presentation program, that was initially developed by Forethought Inc.

Microsoft PowerPoint is primarily used for creating the presentation. With the help of PowerPoint, one can create and customize slides.

In today’s article, we will let you know how the customization in slides can be done and how to change the backgrounds for PowerPoint.

How To Change the Background Color In Powerpoint Slides

Customization in slides is very easy in MS PowerPoint. With this, you can change slide backgrounds and colors to the slides.

Not only a single but you can apply changes to all slides at once if you want.

Along with the background, you can also change the color of the slides. The steps backgrounds for PowerPoint, are given below.

Step 1: To change presentation backgrounds, first, you will have to go to the particular slide you want to change the background of.

You can select the slide by clicking on the thumbnail on the left side of the screen. Check out the screenshot if you didn’t get me.

Step 2: After selecting the slide, you want to change the background, right-click on it. As sooner you click, you will be provided with various options. The screenshot is given below. Check that out.

Step 3: Here, all you have to do is click on the Format Background option. Clicking on this option will lead you to the background settings page. And you will see a screen as I have mentioned below.

And here you go! This is the format background settings page where we have to make some changes in order to change the background color of the slides.

Step 4: As you can see in the above image, under the fill section, there are multi options provided including Solid fill, Gradient fill, and Picture or texture fill. 

You will have to select the options as per your need. For example, if you want to apply a solid color to your background, then follow the following steps.

Click on the Solid Fill. After clicking on the solid color, the screen will start showing the options such as color and transparency. Check out the image below.

Select the Color and then choose the color that you want to see on the slide. To choose the color, click on the drop-down arrow and select the color.

As sooner you click on the color, you will see the slide, changing to that color. If you want to apply the same color to all of the slides, then click on the Apply to All option.

If you are not satisfied with the colors provided in the list, then click on the more colors options from the bottom of the screen. After clicking on the more colors option, you will see two options, standard, and custom. 

Pick a color on the Standard tab. Or, if you want to mix up the colors, then go to the custom tab. Once done with choosing the color, click on Ok.

You can also change the transparency of the slide. To change the transparency, all you have to do is move the transparency slider. You can set the transparency from 0 to 100. Select as per your requirement.

Now if you want to apply a gradient color to the background of your slides, then follow the following steps.

Select the slide first, and then right-click on that particular slide. After the right-click, you will see options as mentioned above. You have to click on the Format Background.

After clicking on the format background options you will see a screen as I mentioned in step 3.  Here, you have to click on the second option from the list i.e Gradient Fill.

As sooner you click on the option, you will see a screen as I have mentioned below.

Now select the options such as preset color, type, and direction gradients.

To set the preset color, click on the drop-down arrow and select the color you want. As sooner you click on the drop-down arrow.

Choose any of them by clicking on them. Similarly, you can change the type and direction as well if you want.

All you will have to do is, click on the drop-down arrow placed beside that particular option.

You can also set the stop position and transparency by moving the position or transparency slider.

Last but not the least, you can also change the picture and texture of the slide.

For that, again go to the Format Background option and select the third option that is Picture or texture fill. 

After clicking on the option, you will see some of the sub-options like texture, insert from, and tiling options. 

Click on the drop-down arrow beside the texture option if you want to keep any texture as the background of the slide.

Select any of the textures by clicking on them. Similarly, if you want to insert any particular file or image to the slide then click on the File button.

After clicking on the button,  a dialogue box will open up. Select the image and click on open. To insert the clip art, click on the clip art button.

After you are done selecting the picture, texture, etc click on Close. But if you want the same effect for all slides, click on Apply to All button.
