Gmail is the dedicated Email platform from Google. But it is something more than that Ray Tomlinson thought about. Most of us have a Gmail account. Maybe you have more than one.
Every morning, the first thing I do is check my emails via Gmail on my smartphone. As a blogger and freelance writer, I need to reply to some emails daily. You too might be in the same boat. If you are a person working in the tech field, then you can’t ignore the scope of emails.
What makes Gmail the popular choice? The first reason is nothing but it’s a Google kid. The second and most loved reason is it comes free of charge. Comfort and convenience are other factors that drive the popularity of Gmail.
Now, I am bringing your attention to another scenario.
But before that, let me ask you one thing. Are you using your first Gmail account? If not, what did you do with your first account?
You just did nothing, right? I know you left it without logging in. You might have wondered, “How do I delete my Gmail account?” and ended up feeling confused and perplexed.
Everyone knows how to open a Gmail account. But not many know how to delete it. As a result, there are many inactive Gmail accounts already.
That’s why I am here with a solution to delete my Gmail account. You don’t have to ask, ‘How do I delete Gmail account?’ anymore.

It is not just a matter of a click. Screaming ‘DELETE MY GMAIL ACCOUNT’ to Google is not enough to delete your Gmail account. You should decide and proceed. I will be explaining the step-by-step process of removing it.
At first, you must decide whether you are going to delete the entire Google account or not. There is no need to delete the account altogether if you just want to erase the Gmail only. After having a clear idea of that, you can proceed with the following steps.
1) Open gmail.com and sign into your account. You will be brought to the emails section. (Use recovery options in case you forgot the password of that old account).
2) On the top right portion, you can see your profile picture. Click on that.
3) Now, a small menu will pop down. There is a button named ‘My Account’. It is the page we should enter to delete a Google service or the entire account. Click on that blue button.
4) Scroll down the forthcoming page to see ‘Delete your account or services’ under the Account Preferences tab. Choose that option.
5) Just look into the right pane. There are two options (I have rounded each in different colours). If you want to delete your Google account entirely, select the second choice.
6) You will be asked to enter your Google credentials. Enter it and click on login. Then, you are asked to confirm the action. Do it. That’s all.
7) If you just want to delete your Gmail account only, choose the first option that says ‘Delete products’.
8) Here also, you will be asked to log in. Do it. On the next page, you are shown all the Google services you use with this account.
9) Gmail must be on that list. On the right side of each service, there is a bin icon. It is meant to delete the particular service. Use that icon.
10) Look at the image below. It is the outcome of clicking on the bin icon. Just sit back, you are about to complete the deletion task. There is a checkbox that says ‘Yes, I want to delete permanently youremail@gmail.com and remove it from my Google Account.’ Tick it.
11) As you are not deleting other products, a new primary email is needed to sign into them. So, provide one and enter the password. Then, click on ‘Remove Gmail’.
Whoa, congrats. You have deleted that messy Gmail account of yours. See, it is not a tiresome task to delete Gmail account. And not a task to be done blindly also. Do this task carefully especially when you want every other product except the Gmail of that particular Google account.
I have explained every step you should follow to delete your Gmail account completely. This is the very same method if you want to delete your old Orkut, Google Plus, or YouTube account. In step #9, you have to click on the bin icon of that particular service.
I recommend you not delete your active accounts. You will miss any relevant emails if you do so. Hence, don’t delete your Gmail account just because you had a fight with your GF or BF. (Maybe you will deactivate FB and WhatsApp, right?).
Now, you are aware of the method to delete the Gmail account. Spread the word to help your friends. Don’t forget to drop a comment below, if you have any queries regarding this.
